Environment and decontamination
Environmental soil characterization in Quebec starts with a phase I environmental study, then phase II and phase III when contaminated soils are confirmed, through to soil remediation.
Construction & Expertise PG provides environmental expertise, site characterization and soil decontamination services across Quebec and Labrador. Our team supports owners, businesses, municipalities and developers who need to assess the environmental condition of a property or intervene on a contaminated site.
Our engineers and technologists carry out Phase I, II and III environmental site assessments. Depending on the mandate, this work can include a review of the site's history, soil sampling, environmental testing and delineation of the affected areas. The results provide a clearer picture of the contaminants present and support planning of the next steps.
PG also performs soil decontamination work, including in restricted or hard-to-reach locations. We can handle the removal of buried heating oil tanks, the removal of asbestos-containing materials and the management of contaminated materials in accordance with applicable requirements.
Our team also offers air quality and mould testing for residential, commercial and industrial buildings. Every intervention follows a rigorous work method, with particular attention to safety, sample traceability and compliance with environmental standards.

Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between phase I, II and III environmental studies?+
Phase I is documentary and visual; phase II confirms contamination through soil and groundwater sampling; phase III delineates volumes and plans the soil remediation.
When is an environmental characterization required?+
During a real estate transaction, financing, change of use or cessation of an activity designated under the EQA. It is also advisable before any excavation in an industrial area.
What should be done with a buried oil tank?+
It must be removed under regulation, with soil sampling beneath the tank. Where contaminated soils are found, we plan the excavation, disposal and final attestation.
Do you perform mould and air quality testing?+
Yes. We inspect buildings, take air and surface samples, run mould testing and, when needed, specify asbestos removal and restoration work.
