04 — Our expertise
Structures and buildings
Our structural and building expertise in Quebec brings together structural engineers and technologists for structural inspection, building assessment, envelope diagnostics and foundation repair.
Construction & Expertise PG supports owners, property managers, contractors and organizations that need structural and building expertise in Quebec or Labrador. Our team steps in both to assess an existing problem and to design, repair, stabilize or rehabilitate a structure.
Our engineers and technologists have solid experience identifying building pathologies. They assess foundations, steel structures, brick cladding, building envelopes, roofs, flashings and waterproofing systems. The goal is to determine the real cause of the problem and provide technical recommendations suited to the situation.
PG performs structural inspections, building envelope assessments, inspections that meet Law 122 requirements, and evaluations of cracks and foundation movement. We can then take charge of concrete repair, structural stabilization, underpinning or the design of permanent corrective measures.
Our team also designs steel structures, deep foundations and new commercial or industrial buildings. By combining engineering, technical expertise and construction execution, PG can support the client from the initial diagnosis through to full project delivery.

What is a Law 122 inspection and who needs one?+
Law 122 requires a five-year verification of façades five storeys and higher and of multi-level parking garages. The structural inspection must be signed by a licensed structural engineer; we issue the report and follow up on corrective work.
Is every foundation crack structural?+
No. Shrinkage cracks are common and harmless, while an evolving, stair-step or wider-than-3 mm crack calls for a building assessment and sometimes foundation repair or structural stabilization.
What does a building envelope diagnostic include?+
Drawing review, examination of masonry, flashing, roofing and joints, thermography when needed, then costed recommendations to correct infiltration and thermal bridging.
Do you design steel structure reinforcements?+
Yes. We calculate and detail reinforcements, plates, bracing and support replacements, then supervise the structural stabilization work through to the compliance certificate.
